Whatnot sellers: stop giving brands free advertising
Look at what is on camera during your show: sleeves, top loaders, shipping supplies, your lighting. If your viewers see the same brands every stream, you are already advertising for those companies. You are just not being paid for it. A simple sponsorship kit built from your own show stats is how you change that.
You are already the ad
Brands that make collecting and reselling supplies want one thing: to reach resellers, collectors and buyers. If you stream on Whatnot, you already have all three watching you, show after show.
That is exactly what brands pay for. The difference between free advertising and a sponsorship is usually just asking.
Step 1: pull your numbers
Go to your Whatnot seller hub and export your show reports and analytics. The numbers brands care about are the ones that show reach and consistency:
| # | Number | Why a brand cares |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Total sales | Shows that your audience spends money |
| 2 | How often you go live | Shows how often their product would be seen |
| 3 | Total stream time | Shows how long viewers are in front of it |
| 4 | Repeat buyers | Shows you have a loyal audience, not one-off visitors |
Pick your best, most honest numbers. You don't need to be huge. You need to show that real buyers keep coming back.
Step 2: turn them into a sponsorship kit
Put your numbers into an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude and ask it to lay them out as a one-page brand sponsorship kit. A good kit says who you are, what you sell, who watches, how often you are live, and what you are offering the brand (for example, their product on screen and mentioned during every show).
Read it back before you send it. Make sure every number in it is one you actually exported, and remove anything the AI made up.
Step 3: pitch the brands on your desk
Start with the brands you already use on stream. You are not cold-pitching a stranger. You can say, truthfully, that their product is already on your camera every show and that your viewers are their customers.
Step 4: let them name the price
When a brand asks for your rate, don't send a number first. Ask them what they had in mind. If you quote first, you might ask for far less than they were ready to pay. Let them make the first offer, then decide.
What to do in your own shop
- List every brand visible on your stream. Supplies, lighting, cases, anything a viewer can read.
- Export your show reports and pick out total sales, how often you are live, total stream time and repeat buyers.
- Build a one-page kit with an AI assistant, then check every number against your real exports.
- Pitch the brands you already use first. Lead with the fact that they are already on your stream.
- Don't quote first. Ask the brand to propose a fee before you name your rate.
